Overview

A ccording to research, listening is an extremely important professional and personal skill. An article in the Wall Street Journal stated that each year, millions of dollars are lost because of poor listening skills. And in a recent study, listening was cited as the most important skill for developing rapport and satisfying customers’ needs. Another study examining the link between listening and career success, revealed that better listeners rose to higher levels in their organizations. The bottom line appears to be that listening is an integral skill in business. Lucid Listening, based on over twenty years of research and practical application, focuses on critical components for perfecting your listening. The course also utilizes an interactive structure for incorporating what you learn to what you do.

 

Content Objectives

After completing Lucid Listening, participants will be able to:

  • Distinguish between hearing and listening;
  • Identify listening obstacles;
  • Provide appropriate feedback; and
  • Apply strategies for effective listening.

 

Materials

Lucid Listening utilizes an interactive structure with six sections (Multimedia Presentation, Readings, Questions & Answers, Resources, Implementation, and Respond). Engaging audio and visual components as well as printable materials are incorporated into the course.  A Certificate of Completion will be awarded.
