Overview

Applying Sexual Harassment Cases focuses on Meritor Savings v. Vinson, the first sexual harassment case, as well as over ten other sexual harassment scenarios and their impact on the workplace. This course explains the pragmatic verbal and nonverbal behaviors that constitute sexual harassment.

 

Content Objectives

After completing Applying Sexual Harassment Cases, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the actions and court ruling of the monumental Meritor Savings v. Vinson;
  • Define five implications of Meritor Savings v. Vinson;
  • Explain the specific and pragmatic behaviors that constitute sexual harassment;
  • Recognize the impact of “severe and pervasive” and “unwelcome” in sexual harassment rulings;
  • Discuss the influence of inappropriate nonverbal and verbal behaviors in the workplace;
  • Understand the inappropriate use of media in the workplace; and
  • Recognize that zero-tolerance is the best recourse for the prevention of sexual harassment.

 

Materials

Applying Sexual Harassment Cases utilizes an interactive structure with six sections (Multimedia Presentation, Readings, Questions & Answers, Resources, Implementation, and Respond). Engaging audio and visual components as well as printable materials are incorporated into the course.  A Certificate of Completion will be awarded.
