Overview

W ithin the last decade, the world of business communication has changed dramatically. As more of us are spending more time on our computers, e-mail has become a principal form of communication. Unfortunately, most employees have never learned, little lone mastered, some basic rules for effective e-mail communication. Fortunately however, this course, E-Mail Essentials & Netiquette, focuses on the essentials of perfecting how and what you write so that you’ll convey a professional and credible image.

 

Content Objectives

After completing E-Mail Essentials & Netiquette, participants will:

  • Be aware of legal issues surrounding e-mail;
  • Apply an appropriate structure and format for e-mail;
  • Integrate netiquette (Internet etiquette) into business writing;
  • Identify the six areas in an e-mail;
  • Understand the importance of subject specificity;
  • Utilize an effective V-Card;
  • Use 10 tips for Netiquette;
  • Incorporate techniques for avoiding flaming;
  • Translate emoticons;
  • Incorporate clarity and succinctness to every e-mail;
  • Recognize effective guidelines for communicating via electronic mail;
  • Create an Implementation Plan for practicing e-mail essentials and netiquette.

 

Materials

E-Mail Essentials & Netiquette utilizes an interactive structure with six sections (Multimedia Presentation, Readings, Questions & Answers, Resources, Implementation, and Respond). Engaging audio and visual components as well as printable materials are incorporated into the course.  A Certificate of Completion will be awarded.
